Sacramento Republic FC takes on Dayton Dutch Lions FC in the second of a two-match east coast road trip. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. PST on Sunday, May 25, at DOC Stadium in West Carollton, Ohio. The match can be viewed live at SacRepublicFC.com/matchday.
The match will be the first and only matchup between Republic FC and Dayton Dutch Lions FC. Republic FC (5-3-1) comes into the match on a three match USL PRO win streak and a four match win streak overall. Dayton (2-4-2) enters the match 1-1-1 in their last three matches overall.
Republic FC started their road trip with a 1-0 victory over the Rochester Rhinos on Friday night. The win was the third road win for Republic FC this year, the second most in league play only to Orlando City SC. Forward Thomas Stewart continued to stay hot scoring his third goal in the last three USL PRO matches.
Stewart’s goal came in the 74th minute after Republic FC controlled most of the possession in the match but could not score. Stewart received a pass from substitute midfielder Max Alvarez at the top of the box, faked left, turned right and shot a strong left footed strike into the right side of the goal.
Republic FC goalkeeper Dominik Jakubek continued his strong play, recording his second shutout of the season. Jakubek also lowered his goal against average to 0.89.
Dayton enters the match after a loss to Harrisburg City Islanders 5-3 on Saturday, May 17. Forward Aaron Schoenfeld, a Columber Crew loan player, had a brace in the match bringing his club-leading goal total to four. Brock Granger leads the Dutch Lions on defense racking up a club-leading 711 minutes and adding a goal in 8 appearances.
