Sacramento Republic FC are in the running for 2016 USL Goal of the Year. Cameron Iwasa’s strike against Rio Grande Valley FC on Jun. 18 is up against a goal from FC Montreal midfielder Jimmy Sanon. The two goals are the sixth matchup in the USL Goal of the Year bracket.
Iwasa signed with MLS side Sporting Kansas City on Jan. 10. The Sacramento-native departed Republic FC after scoring a Republic FC record 12 goals in 2016, breaking the previous record of 11 held by Tommy Stewart.
Fans have until 6 a.m. PT on Monday, Jan. 23 to vote in the first round of matchups.
