U.S. Soccer announced last week the first two rounds of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Republic FC will enter in the second round on Wednesday, May 17 when the club hosts the winner of Anahuac FC (Nev.) vs Sonoma County Sol FC (NPSL) at Papa Murphy's Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The match is included in the 2017 Season Ticket Holder package. Season Ticket Holders will also have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets in a presale on Monday, Apr. 24 starting at 10 a.m. The presale code will be emailed to Season Ticket Holders.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Apr. 25 at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.com.
The 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup kicks off May 9 with Red Force FC (Fla.) vs. South Florida Surf (PDL). The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is one of the oldest ongoing soccer tournaments in the world and the oldest in the United States. The competition is tiered and involves single-game knockout rounds. This year's first round will feature 21 PDL, 18 NPSL and 17 Open Division local qualifiers. The second round will bring in 18 USL clubs and six NASL clubs, while the third round will see the inclusion of MLS clubs. The current champion is FC Dallas.
The winner of this year's tournament will earn a berth in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions' League and $250,000, plus they will have their named engraved into the Dewar Challenge Cup. The runner-up will earn $60,000, while the team that advances the furthest from each lower division will take home a $15,000 cash prize.
