June 10, 2017; 7:30 p.m. PDT Kickoff

Sacramento Republic FC travel just over 100 miles east on I-80 to take on their newest rivals, Reno 1868 FC, on Saturday, June 10. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Greater Nevada Field.  The match will be broadcast on CW31.

Republic FC will host three official watch parties at de Vere’s Irish Pub in downtown Sacramento, Pitch and Fiddle in Sacramento and The Brass Tap in Rocklin.

This is the second-ever competitive meeting between Republic FC and Reno 1868 FC.  Republic FC won the first meeting between the two clubs 2-0 on May 31 in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. This is the first of three USL matches between the two new rivals, who will meet once more in Reno on Oct. 14 and once in Sacramento on Sept. 18.

Republic FC enter the match following a scoreless draw with Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on Saturday, Jun. 3.  The match extended Republic FC’s USL unbeaten streak to three matches, and their all-competition unbeaten stretch to five matches.  The match was also Republic FC’s third shutout of the season.

Goalkeeper Evan Newton has been strong in goal for Republic FC, recording shutouts in back-to-back matches, including the scoreless draw on Saturday and Republic FC’s 2-0 win over Reno.  Newton has now recorded four shutouts in all competitions in 2017, allowing just six goals in eight appearances.

Republic FC’s offense has come alive recently, scoring five goals in their last three USL matches and 11 goals in their last five matches overall. The resurgence has been partial due to the rise of Trevin Caesar and Harry Williams.  Caesar has recorded two goals and two assists in his last five matches, including a goal and an assist against Reno. For his part, Williams has netted three goals in his last four appearances, including one against 1868 FC.

Reno comes into the match on a six-match unbeaten streak in USL play, including four wins.  Most recently, 1868 FC defeated Rio Grande Valley FC Toros 3-2 on Wednesday, Jun. 7.  The match was the first time that the Toros had allowed more than a goal against in a match since Jun. 26, 2016.  Reno has outscored their opponents 22-7 during their unbeaten streak, scoring three or more goals in all but one of those matches.

Forward Dane Kelly was recently named USL Player of the Month following his eight goal performance in May.  Kelly leads the USL with 11 goals on the season.  Kelly scored the first back-to-back hat tricks in USL history when he bagged three goals against Phoenix Rising FC on May 6 and then again against Seattle Sounders FC 2 on May 20.  Kelly is the all-time leading scorer in USL history.

The match will also feature two former Republic FC players.  Forward Mackenzie Pridham and midfielder Matt LaGrassa will face their former team for the second time since leaving Republic FC in the offseason.  LaGrassa started and played 90 minutes against Republic FC on May 31.

Republic FC will host three official watch parties at de Vere’s Irish Pub, Pitch and Fiddle and Brass Tap. de Vere’s Irish Pub is located at 1521 L St., Pitch And Fiddle is located at 8704 La Riviera Dr and Brass Tap is located at 5150 Commons Dr. in Rocklin.  Fans are encouraged to arrive early for best seating.
