Sacramento Republic FC return to USL action when they host Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Saturday, Jun. 17. Kickoff is 8 p.m. at Papa Murphy’s Park.  Tickets to the match are available at Ticketmaster.com.

This is the second of three meetings between Republic FC and WFC2 this season.  The pair played to a scoreless draw in their first meeting on Apr. 29 in Canada.  Republic FC hold a slight advantage in the all-time series with a record of 2-1-3.

Republic FC enter the match after advancing to the Fifth Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup following a 4-1 victory over Real Salt Lake.  Republic FC will face LA Galaxy in the Fifth Round on Wednesday, Jun. 28 at the StubHub Center Track Stadium.  This is the first time in club history that Republic FC have advanced to the Fifth Round.

Midfielder Danny Barrera was a large part of Republic FC’s success on Wednesday, scoring a goal and adding two assists in the win.  Unfortunately for Republic FC, Barrera is not available for Saturday’s match as he will be serving a one-match suspension stemming from a tackle against Reno 1868 FC on Saturday, Jun. 10.  The suspension will end Barrera’s consecutive USL appearance streak at 59 matches.  His streak is by far the longest in Republic FC history, dating back to his first appearance with the club on Jun. 6, 2015.

Forward Trevin Caesar was a beneficiary of one of Barrera’s assists on Wednesday, scoring his third goal on the season.  Caesar has been on a run of good form lately, scoring three goals and adding two assists in his last five appearances, including a goal and an assist in Republic FC’s Third Round Open Cup victory over Reno 1868 FC.

Jeremy Hall scored his first goal as a member of Republic FC in Wednesday’s win. Hall has been an integral member of Republic FC since joining the club on loan on Jul. 21, 2016.  Hall has since signed full time with Republic FC and has appeared in each of the club’s 16 matches this season.  In fact, Hall has appeared in 2,070 of a possible 2,250 USL minutes since joining the club, playing as both a midfielder and as a defender.

Whitecaps FC 2 come into the match following a 2-1 loss to Phoenix Rising FC in the USL debut of Didier Drogba.  Phoenix’s newest arrival impressed, scoring a goal and adding a late assist against WFC2 on Jun. 10. With the loss, Whitecaps FC 2 have won two of their last four matches in USL play.

The WFC2 lineup have had a lot of rotation this season, with 28 different players seeing playing time in 2017 and only six players appearing in at least 10 of their 12 USL matches this season.  This balance in minutes has created a balance on the scoresheet as well, with eight different players scoring a goal this season, led by Marco Bustos’ four goals.

Tickets to the match are still available at Ticketmaster.com.  100 tickets will also be available at the Papa Murphy’s Park Box Office before the match.  The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. and is located at the West Gate of Papa Murphy’s Park.

The match will be broadcast on CW31 and on Sports 1140 KHTK. It will also be streamed live at SacRepublicFC.com/matchday-guide and the USL Match Center. Updates of the match will be also be provided via Twitter @SacRepublicFC or using #SACvVAN.
