July 15, 2017; 8:00 p.m. PDT Kickoff

Sacramento Republic FC host the reigning CONCACAF Champions League winner CF Pachuca in a friendly match on Saturday, July 15.  Kickoff is 8 p.m. at Papa Murphy’s Park.  The match will be broadcast on CW31. Tickets are still available at Ticketmaster.com.

This is the first time that Republic FC will face CF Pachuca, although not the first time that Pachuca has visited the Capital City. The Liga MX club previously traveled to Sacramento in 2015 when they faced EPL club, Sunderland AFC, in a friendly match at Papa Murphy’s Park.  Pachuca won the match 3-1.

Republic FC enter the match on a four-match USL undefeated streak, their longest such streak of the season.  During the streak, Republic FC have outscored their opponents 12-6 and have scored two or more goals in three of the four matches.

Emrah Klimenta scored his second goal of the season against San Antonio FC on Saturday, July 1.  Klimenta moved into a tie for sixth place on Republic FC all-time USL goal scorers list.  The defender was named to the USL Team of the Week for his efforts against San Antonio FC. The match against San Antonio was Klimenta’s 80th USL appearance for Republic FC, most of any player in Republic FC history.

Midfielder Danny Barrera provided the assist on Klimenta’s goal, his fourth USL assist of the season.  Barrera and forward Wilson Kneeshaw are currently tied for the club-lead in USL assists.  Unfortunately, Barrera will be sidelined after having surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot.

Republic FC’s youngest-ever signing Roberto Hategan will make his Republic FC debut against Pachuca.  The 16-year-old is expected to start against the Liga MX club and would become the youngest player to make an appearance for Republic FC at just 16 years, 81 days old.  The previous youngest player was midfielder Gabe Gissie, who made his debut on April 19, 2014 against Arizona United SC (now Phoenix Rising FC), at 17 years, 149 days old.

CF Pachuca are in their final preparations for the 2017-18 Liga MX season.  Pachuca will travel to Mexico City to face Pumas UNAM in their season opener on July 23.  The club has historically been one of the best in Mexico winning six national championships, five CONCACAF Champions’ Cups, a SuperLiga Championship and a Copa Sudamericana.

Most recently, Pachuca won the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League defeating fellow Liga MX side Tigres UANL.  The championship was their fifth in the last 15 years, the most of any club in that span.  Pachuca is third all-time in Champions Cup championships trailing only Club América and Cruz Azul.
