Sacramento Republic FC forward Sammy Ochoa was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 18. This is the second time in the 2017 USL season that Ochoa has been named to the Team of the Week.
Starting for Republic FC on Sunday against Seattle Sounders FC 2, the forward delivered early in the match. In the 16th minute, Ochoa lofted a perfect cross from the right into the S2 18-yard box where a waiting Trevin Caesar took a one-touch volley to beat S2 goalkeeper Sam Fowler and give Republic FC the lead.
Ochoa was once again in action for Republic FC's second goal. The forward brought down Evan Newton's goal kick with a header and into Tyler Blackwood's path for the latter to drive up the left with the ball. Blackwood attempted to cross the ball towards Wilson Kneeshaw, but Blackwood's well-placed cross sailed into Fowler's goal to seal Republic FC's win against S2.
With his contributions on Sunday, Ochoa now leads Republic FC in assists with five. Ochoa is tied in second place with Blackwood on goals, each with five goals on the season.
