SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Recently, UCP of Sacramento and Northern California and Kevin Nagle, Republic FC Chairman and 2019 UCP Humanitarian of the Year, announced a new fundraising record of over $480,000 from its annual dinner on May 16.
Nearly 700 attendees gathered at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, including Republic FC investors, executives, coaches and players, and top leaders in politics and business, to recognize their collective success in raising funds for the chapter.
This year’s total funds raised was an increase of $160,000 over last year’s record. These funds will enable UCP to expand its comprehensive services to children and adults with developmental disabilities throughout the region.
“We are honored that Kevin Nagle is our Humanitarian of the Year. Kevin has elevated the profile of UCP's services and increased our support and has once again proven his generous spirit and work to better our community,” said Doug Bergman, President and CEO of UCP of Sacramento and Northern California. “Kevin put time and energy into making this UCP’s best event in the past 26 years. His commitment to the organization, coupled with his heartfelt backing of the work UCP performs was the key to making the 2019 event one to remember.”
“I am proud of our community for stepping up to support such a worthy and noble mission,” said Mr. Nagle. “UCP is led by a passionate group of people determined to change the lives of those with autism and other developmental disabilities. I was touched by all the wonderful family, friends and people who attended and supported such a great cause.”
As a former health care executive and passionate advocate for Sacramento, Mr. Nagle has donated millions of dollars to a variety of charitable organizations in the Sacramento region promoting health, education, youth development and the arts.
The latest fundraising success occurs at a moment of transformation and growth for UCP, with plans to significantly expand its services to individuals with autism and their families. Based on research from the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute, UCP has developed the UCP Autism Center for Excellence after-school program using ABA therapy. UCP has also expanded its UCP Family Respite services to 1,800 families including the rural communities in El Dorado County—half of those families have a child under the age of ten, many of whom have autism.
