For the 2019 Season, Republic FC partnered with local artists and players to help share a story – and help raise some charitable funds.  Inspired by charitable causes and initiatives, artists designed commemorative cleats that are being auctioned off to further the mission of local nonprofit organizations.  Here are a few examples of cleats from this season, with more to come!

Worn September 7th vs. Tacoma Defiance by #25 Ray Saari

SOLD

Ray Saari and a very special UC Davis Health patient, Gianna, designed a pair of cleats with elements of items that gave them strength through recovery.  Local artist Kevin Lee, Ray Saari, Gianna and her family sat together to talk about their journeys…and identified a few crucial elements:

  • Ray and Gianna have their purple and red ribbons, respectively, on one cleat – stitched together on the bottom
  • Gianna listed a few items that gave her strength – a blue/pink/yellow blanket, the initials of her family members, and her love for Disney.

Worn June 22nd vs. Tulsa Roughnecks FC by #11 Sam Werner

SOLD

Leading up to Republic FC’s Annual Pride Night, Republic FC players, coaches, and staff participated in various Pride Month events around Sacramento.  Local artist Steven Cook designed another amazing pair of cleats with storytelling and imagery of the Pride movement.  Included are elements of the original Pride flag, as well as a portrait of Gilbert Baker – who designed the original Pride flag.
