Fall is in full force and so is the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season with all Republic FC Academy age groups in play over the weekend. Let’s check up on how the youngsters in Old Glory Red are doing this season…
The Republic FC U-18/19s and San Jose Earthquakes U-18/19s played out a 1-1 draw over the weekend. Nathaniel Carrasco’s 71st minute strike initially gave SRFC the lead before San Jose leveled late. Next up for the U-18/19s is a weekend doubleheader against Seattle Sounders FC at Cosumnes River College on Saturday followed by a showdown with Portland Timbers on Sunday.
The Indomitable Club’s U-16/17s fell 3-0 to San Jose Earthquakes U-16/17s on Saturday at Evergreen Community College. The boys in Old Glory Red have two chances to return to winning ways next weekend when Seattle Sounders FC and Portland Timbers come to town to take on the young guns.
The Republic FC U-15s fought back from a goal-down to draw 1-1 with San Jose Earthquakes U-15s over the weekend. Donovan Turner leveled the match in the 56th minute after San Jose jumped out to an early lead. The Indomitable Club returns to action next weekend against Seattle Sounders FC and Portland Timbers at Cosumnes River College.
One week after their resounding 15-0 result, the Indomitable Club’s U-14s were dealt their first loss of the 2019 season to San Jose Earthquakes U-14s over the weekend, 5-1. Victor Vieyra netted the lone goal for SRFC in the 64th minute. The U-14s will look to return to their winning ways this weekend against Mustang Soccer Club at Bella Vista High School Stadium.
The Republic FC U-13s unbeaten season came to a close this weekend following a 2-1 loss to San Jose Earthquakes. Ronaldo Melgoza leveled the match in the 36th minute before Earthquakes found the eventual game-winner. Sacramento will look to get back on track this coming weekend against Mustang Soccer Club.
