JuJu’s last-gasp winner against T2 is up for the honor and SRFC supporters are encouraged to vote before Monday morning

Republic FC midfielder Julian Chavez’s match winning goal with the very last kick of the game against Portland Timbers 2 on September 2 has been nominated for the 2020 Fans’ Choice Goal of the Year.

The 16-goal bracket on USLChampionship.com was unveiled on Tuesday and fans are encouraged to vote before the Round of 16 polls close at 9:00 a.m. PT on November 16 and can do so by clicking below.

In the dying moments of the match against T2, the 18-year-old Republic FC Youth Academy product weaved by his defender towards the center of the pitch and rifled a blistering left-footed effort that seared its way inside the near post and by the hapless goalkeeper to solidify a stunning road victory for the boys in Old Glory Red. The game-winning strike made JuJu the youngest in club history to score during league play at the age of 18 years, three months and two days old.

Chavez’s first round opponent in the bracket is Tampa Bay Rowdies’ Jordan Doherty. The player that accumulates the most votes will advance to the Quarterfinals.
