Sacramento, Calif. – On Tuesday, the league headquarters announced Republic FC’s Luis Felipe and Duke Lacroix were named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 15.
Felipe recorded the first multi-goal game of his career and his first scores of the season in Republic FC’s 3-1 win over New York Red Bulls II. The midfielder led Sacramento with three interceptions and five tackles, while winning 13 of 19 duels. He is the second Republic FC player to score twice in a single match this season after Tucker Bone recorded a brace in Las Vegas on July 14.
Republic FC defender Duke Lacroix was named to Team of the Week bench after finishing with one assist and two blocked shots.
This is the second Team of the Week selection of the season for Felipe and the first career selection for Lacroix. Republic FC has now had five different players awarded Team of the Week honors this season after Darek Formella and Shannon Gomez in Week Four, and Tucker Bone in Week 13.
Felipe’s 22nd minute score, assisted by defender Duke Lacroix, has been nominated for USL Fan’s Choice Goal of the week. Voting is open now and runs through Thursday, August 5 at 9:00 a.m. PT on USLChampionship.com.
The boys in Old Glory Red are back in action on Thursday, August 5, when the squad travels to Washington for their first meeting of the season with Tacoma Defiance. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Republic FC return home to Heart Health Park on August 14 when they welcome Las Vegas Lights FC for their third meeting of the season. Tickets are available at SacRepublicFC.com
