Sacramento Republic FC fortified its midfield on Wednesday with the acquisition of Emil Cuello on loan from San Antonio FC. Cuello, an attacking midfielder from Argentina, is a high-quality, crafty No. 10 who has accumulated 24 appearances in Major League Soccer with the Los Angeles Galaxy – including the U.S. Open Cup and Leagues Cup – in addition to his 22 appearances in the USL Championship.
The midfielder has had a breakout year in 2021 for the San Antonio side after signing in January from his second stint with the LA Galaxy. Cuello is closing in on 1,000 minutes for the first time in his career while leading the club with three assists to go along with two goals in 10 starts this season. The Argentine is no stranger to the USL Championship, logging six starts with LA Galaxy II in 2019
Cuello will be a key componentfor Republic FC down the stretch, as the Indomitable Club looks to build on its seven-game point streak in pursuit of a playoff spot.
He will be available for selection ahead of this Saturday’s match against San Diego Loyal SC at Heart Health Park, but before he steps onto the pitch, check out why his play and experience are the perfect fit to help the Boys in Old Glory Red for the rest of the 2021 season.
