Statement opportunity presents itself to Indomitable Club on Wednesday

Sacramento Republic FC is back home on a quick turnaround to host LA Galaxy II at Heart Health Park for the second time in three weeks. With three of Republic FC’s final four games taking place at home, the Boys in Old Glory Red are set to make their push for the 2021 USL Championship postseason in front of the Indomitable Fans. First up, SRFC has an opportunity to pull level with Los Dos on points with a win on Wednesday.

Republic FC Head Coach Mark Briggs

On the approach to Republic FC’s attack ahead of Wednesday’s match with LA Galaxy II…

“It’s a mixture of confidence, technique and intensity. We've got to go to the ball like we want to score. We've got to get in front of our man. We’ve got to make things happen instead of waiting for things to happen for us. We’ve got to make things happen. We’ve got to anticipate balls.”

On Wednesday being a must-win match…

“We prepare like any other game - there's just a lot more pressure on this one. We need three points. We need everybody in that stadium to get behind us, push us and create an atmosphere that drives the players on and gives the players confidence.”

On having Luis Felipe back from yellow card suspension…

“You saw what Luis has brought to us throughout the course of the season: his energy, his long gangly frame and his ability to pick up second balls. He knicks balls in between lines and he's come up with goals this season. We’ve missed Luis, and it'll be good to have him back in the group helping us to get three points tomorrow.”

Republic FC Midfielder Pete Pennanen

On how the playoff race has influenced the club’s preparation for Wednesday…

“It shouldn't change anything. Everybody knows what the table looks like. The only important thing for us is three points. There are no other results anymore. It's simple. It's easy to prepare for this game because we all know that the only thing that we need tomorrow is a win.”

On the importance of the club’s remaining schedule…

“Every game from now on is like a cup final for us. We need to get wins if we want to make the playoffs, and if we don't then we don't deserve it. We have four games and we go one by one, but it’s a simple thing that we have to win.”

On this past Saturday being his first start since August…

“I was out five weeks without the ability to run. That was a difficult part fitness wise, but I was I was working as hard as I could because I knew that I would be back for the rest of the season. That was the only way to prepare to get my fitness back. Of course it was the first 90 minutes, but I felt great. I didn’t have any excuses, but that's why I was working also when I was injured – to be ready.”
