Guadeloupe-Born forward is Republic FC’s first new addition ahead of 2022 season

Earlier this week, Republic FC officially welcomed forward Luther Archimède to the Indomitable Club. A native of Guadeloupe, he featured for French Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, before being drafted 13th overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft by New York Red Bulls out of Syracuse University. He also brings with him international experience, having represented Guadeloupe in the 2018 CONCACAF U20 Championship as well as this past summer’s Gold Cup.

Archimède has shown immense attacking potential at every level, scoring six goals in five matches at the 2018 CONCACAF U20 Championship and putting together a highlight reel of offensive excellence after earning his way into New York’s starting XI last season. As Sacramento welcomes Luther to the Indomitable City, take a look at what fans can expect when the forward takes the pitch with Republic FC come springtime.

Anticipation at its Finest

In what ended as a 3-0 result for New York against Loudon United, Archimède got his club on the board first, making his way around a defender before gracefully handling an aerial cross from teammate Juan Castillo. He timed his touch with perfection, chipping the ball over the goalkeeper to pull his club ahead in the 19th minute.

How to: Break Lines

During the 2018 CONCACAF U20 Championship, Archimède represented his home nation of Guadeloupe with a video-game-like performance. In their second group stage match against Canada, the forward snuck past the backline at the perfect time, received a through ball, and punched in his first of six goals in a five-match span.

Speed Kills

Against Atlantic Division leader Tampa Bay on October 15, the forward showed off his wheels to draw first blood for New York. A well-placed through ball left Archimède in a footrace with Tampa Bay’s vaunted backs, a challenge he rose to with ease before punching one past the league’s top keeper in Evan Louro.

Just a Tap

Taking on Dominica in his nations’ final match of the 2018 CONCACAF U20 Championships, Archimède punched in his first of two scores on the day when he fielded a cross near the penalty spot. He converted with a seemingly effortless tap into the net, at the time his fifth score of the tournament.
