Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that Sacramento is among the final four cities under consideration for two expansion bids that will be awarded in December 2017. The other three cities are Cincinnati, Detroit and Nashville. Owners and officials from each of the four prospective expansion markets have been invited to the league's headquarters in New York to make a formal presentation to MLS Commissioner Don Garber and the League’s Expansion Committee on Dec. 6.

Big win for Sac to be at this stage of expansion process. Takes a whole community and (greatest!) fan base showing who we are as a club and as a city for 4 great seasons now. Proud that we are the most prepared showcase of a team that MLS has ever seen. #BringItHome— Ben Gumpert (@bgumpert) November 29, 2017
