Sacramento Republic FC stormed past Seattle Sounders FC 2 in a resounding 3-0 win at Papa Murphy's Park on Saturday. Cameron Iwasa got things started for the boys in black, notching his 13th goal of the season and breaking the club's previous single-season scoring record, also previously held by Iwasa.
Christian Eissele, who came on for an injured Adam Moffat in the first half, scored goals two and three for the home side. His first of the night was assisted by Villyan Bijev, while his second was scored off a penalty kick when he was brought down in the box.
Josh Cohen's heroics would secure the clean sheet towards the end of the match. Emrah Klimenta was called for a foul inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot for S2. David Estrada stepped up but Cohen rose to the occasion with a spectacular save that sent Estrada's shot out and over the crossbar.
