Career Bio
The Jamaican forward is back for this second season in Sacramento. After recovering from a lingering injury early in the year, Maalique made his club debut halfway through the 2021 season and immediately showed why his attacking process was highly coveted.
Even in limited minutes, he helped Sacramento to an uptick of nearly 15% in total shots and shots on target compared to the season’s first half. As he built back his stamina throughout September, Foster began to see more action. Showing off his ability to break lines, even if stopped by an offside flag, he led the team with a 0.8 expected goals per match rating in just half the season. The forward created all kinds of chaos in the attacking third, drawing two penalties and tallying 10 shots between October 2 and 17- second on the squad during that stretch.
He joined Republic FC after a season on loan with Ironi Kiryat Shmona of the Israeli Premier League after a season in the Costa Rican Primera División Apertura with Santos de Guápiles FC, where he netted 5 goals in 12 matches. Foster spent the first half of the 2019 USL Championship season on loan with Rio Grande Valley FC Toros where he netted three goals and four assists in eleven matches. Prior to his USL debut, he joined Houston Dynamo’s first team preseason camp. In eleven matches, he was inserted into the start lineup ten times and earned two USL Championship Team of the Week selections (Week 7 and 11).
Foster has been called into service for the Reggae Boyz, Jamaica’s national team – for eight matches with five appearances. In his 2018 international debut, he scored against South Korea to earn a 2-2 draw. He was a member of the 2019 Gold Cup semi-finalist roster and CONCACAF Nations League B and qualifying squads.
The St. Catherine, Jamaica-native made his professional debut for Portmore United of Jamaica’s National Premier League, where he claimed a domestic trophy in 2017-18 and was a key contributor with two goals in Scotiabank Concacaf League play.
