Republic FC and Special Olympics Northern California have partnered to create Sacramento’s first-ever unified soccer team, uniting athletes with and without intellectual disabilities. Led by Filip Handl, Republic FC’s Manager of Soccer Programming, and a dedicated coaching staff, the team embodies friendship, teamwork, and inclusion. As unified soccer continues to grow across the U.S., with teams from both MLS and USL, this movement is helping to foster greater social inclusion through the power of sport.
