Am I required to get a COVID-19 test?
Yes, all players will be required to receive a negative COVID-19 test result on an FDA approved COVID-19 test. The test must be completed within the 72 hours prior to the tryouts. Proof of   negative result must be  submitted, reviewed, and accepted by Republic FC in order for a player to be permitted entry into  the facility on the first day of tryouts. All players will be required to submit COVID-19 results to Republic FC prior to arrival. For a list of testing locations, click here

Will I be required to wear a face covering? 
Players will be required to wear a face covering at all times while not actively playing.

How old do you need to be to participate in tryouts?
Trialists must be 18 years or older.

Who can participate in open tryouts?
Tryouts are open to eligible males, 18 years or older. All players will need to complete the registration process and sign the required waivers to participate. 

Republic FC also offers tryouts for athletes under the age of 18 for the club’s United States Developmental Academy programs. Academy tryouts for the 2021-2022 season will be announced in Winter/Spring 2021.

I'm not a United States citizen or Permanent Resident, can I still participate in tryouts?
You do not need to be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident to participate in Republic FC open tryouts. However, any international trialist is responsible, at such trialist’s sole cost and expense, for complying with all immigration laws applicable to making a visit to the United States to participate in the tryouts, including procurement of a non-immigrant visa to permit such visit. On a case-by-case basis, Republic FC may be able to provide an invitation letter in support a prospective trialist’s application for a temporary non-immigrant visa, such as a tourist visa, that would permit such a visit.

In order for us to consider your application, you must send in your invitation request from your embassy in your home country. We will provide a letter of invitation when we have received the following information:

  • Proof of registration and full payment for tryouts
  • Full legal name
  • Address
  • Cell phone number
  • Email address
  • Letter from your embassy requesting an official invitation
  • Intended dates of travel and accommodation details while in Sacramento

Please send your invitation request and the items above to Jeremy Williams (jwilliams@sacrepublicfc.com). If your visa request is turned down we will refund your $215 registration fee.

How does the tryout impact college eligibility?
College athletes wishing to try out should check with their school’s NCAA compliance officer and college coach to make sure the tryout will not affect their eligibility. Different states have different regulations regarding tryouts and Republic FC will not take responsibility regarding your NCAA eligibility.

Please makes such inquiries with with your school’s NCAA compliance officer and college coach prior to signing up for Republic FC Tryouts.

Do I need an agent to participate?
No, Republic FC tryouts are open to any interested athlete. You do not need an agent to participate.

I have asthma, will this stop me from participating?
No, but we do recommend that you alert your coach of any ailment and have your inhaler or other medication close-by. You will also be asked to sign two separate waivers at the time of registration. We encourage you to read through both waivers carefully and if in any doubt please consult with your doctor and/or legal representative. No, each trialist is solely responsible for all accommodation bookings and costs. Republic FC is not responsible for your accommodations.

What is your refund policy?
Registration is non-refundable, except in cases in which are participant in unable to participate due to Covid-19 positive test or other conditions related to the global  pandemic.

What do I need to bring to tryouts?
All players must bring appropriate footwear. Tryouts will be held on synthetic turf. You will also be expected to wear white socks, black shorts and shin guards, additionally all players must bring a White and a black jersey top. Tryouts will go ahead rain or shine, so please also check weather reports and bring appropriate wear including towels or sunscreen.

Each trialist is solely responsible for all accommodation bookings, transportation and costs. Republic FC is not responsible for your accommodations.

What is the format of tryouts?
Day 1 will consist of small sided games and Day 2 will consist of 11v11 matches.

Will food be provided?
No, food will not be provided but players are welcome and encouraged to bring their own drinks and/or snacks for the duration of tryouts. Republic FC will provide water. 

Will there be trainers or medical personnel onsite in case of injuries?
Yes, Republic FC’s athletic training and medical services personnel will be onsite throughout tryouts.

Can my friends and family watch?
No, unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic - no spectators  will be allowed inside of the facility. 

Who will be at the tryouts?
Besides Republic FC coaching staff, the club will invite NPSL and lower division teams/coaches to the tryout. This increases visibility to the players and helps those coaches recruit.

What is the call-back procedure and when is the next round?
Trialists will be notified either via email or phone within three (3) days if they will be invited to preseason with the team.

What if I am not a United States citizen or Permanent Resident?Should you impress our coaching staff enough to be offered a professional contract, upon execution and delivery of such contract, Republic FC would undertake to procure for you the necessary non-immigrant visa to play professionally in the United States for Republic FC. Depending on the terms of your contract, Republic FC also may elect to pay all or a portion of the costs associated fees with procuring such visa.
