Sacramento, Calif. – The Guadeloupe Football Association has announced that Republic FC forward Luther Archimède (pronunciation: Arsh-eh-mehd) has been selected to the Guadeloupe (pronunciation: Gwahd-eh-loop) National Team for the Concacaf Gold Cup preliminary qualifying round.
Guadeloupe will take the pitch on Friday, June 16 from DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida against Antigua & Barbuda. The winner will advance to play the winner of the June 17 qualifying match between Guyana and Grenada for a spot in Group B of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup – the Confederation of North, Central, and Caribbean Association Football’s biennial championship tournament.
The 23-year-old striker joins his nation’s senior squad for the second time this year. He was previously called up for Concacaf Nations League from March 23 to March 28, appearing off the bench against Antigua & Barbuda and in the starting lineup against Cuba. Archimède has appeared in 13 of 14 league matches for Republic FC this season, only missing action during his previous international call-up. He has tallied two goals in 196 minutes.
Following a three-match road trip, Republic FC returns home this Saturday to face regional foe Monterey Bay F.C. for the first time this season. Kickoff for the match is set for 8:00 p.m., and the match will be broadcast live on FOX40, Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com and the FOX40 News mobile app, and streaming on ESPN+. Alongside the contest, the club will hold its inaugural Brewfest at Heart Health Park, celebrating the region’s robust brewing history and community.
