After tying the league’s all-time clean sheets record and nabbing his third consecutive Goalkeeper of the Year nomination, it comes as no surprise that Republic FC’s Danny Vitiello is up for yet another league honor.
The bearded shotstopper has been nominated for the 2025 USL Championship Save of the Year for his 90th minute play against Charleston Battery on October 22. The Indomitable Club was holding onto a 1-0 lead as the final whistle approached, but Charleston’s league-leading offense continued to threaten. A dangerous cross found the feet of Rubio Rubin for a shot from point blank range, but Danny’s quick hands allowed him to make the stop at the edge of the six-yard box. The ball deflected near a Charleston player, but Vitiello pounced on it to end the play.
The first round of voting is open now through Friday at 9:00 a.m. PT at USLChampionship.com.
