Earlier today, the USL Championship announced the Week 24 Team of the Week. Among the league’s top players is Republic FC centerback Jared Timmer, who earns his first selection of the campaign for his performance in Saturday’s 1-0 win over fellow Western Conference contender Lexington SC.
After anchoring a stellar defensive showing that held Lexington without a single shot on target all night, Timmer helped put the cherry on top with an assist on Kyle Edwards’ game-winning goal in the 87th minute. A corner from Memo Rodriguez was placed at the near post, allowing Timmer to put a place-perfect flick to the far post, where Edwards got the slightest touch on the ball to redirect it past the goalkeeper.
In addition to the assist – his first of the 2026 campaign – Timmer also recorded six duels won, six possessions won, and two clearances on the night. The clean sheet marked Republic FC’s second in a row and seventh of the season.
With the win, Sacramento is now in fifth place in the Western Conference table, just one point back from a top-four finish that would guarantee a home playoff match, and still within striking distance of first place with 11 matches still to go.
