Republic FC forwards Stefano Bonomo and Cameron Iwasa have both been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 16. This marks Iwasa's second time to be named to the TOTW in 2019 after being named the Player of the Week in Week 3.
Both forwards had outstanding performances in Republic FC's 6-0 rout against Tulsa Roughnecks FC. Iwasa brought his USL Championship goal count to nine after scoring twice against Tulsa, putting him fifth in the race for the USL Championship Golden Boot. Iwasa also had the assist on Bonomo's first goal of the night.
Bonomo notched his own brace and his first goals in the 2019 USL Championship season, scoring the third and fifth goals of the match. The 26-year-old forward also completed 12 of 15 passes and made four recoveries, helping to lead Republic FC to their largest margin of victory in club history.
The team is back on the road this weekend, facing off against Reno 1868 FC on Saturday at Greater Nevada Field. Kickoff is 7:30pm. We'll be at Waterman Brewing for our official watch party so come on out to Elk Grove and cheer the boys on with us.
