SACRAMENTO, Calif. — He was the curator behind the single-greatest comeback in Republic FC history, and after he stunned LA Galaxy II with three second half strikes to overcome a two-goal deficit in the Western Conference Semifinals, he wasn’t done yet. Rodrigo Lopez proceeded to tally an assist in the USL Championship game, earning him match MVP honors following the game after helping to guide Republic FC to USL Cup glory. 

Simply put, RoRo is a legend around these parts. And now, the experienced and versatile midfielder is returning to Sacramento in search of more silverware. But before Lopez laces up the boots for his second stint with the Indomitable Club, let’s look back on a few photos from his most memorable moments with the boys in Old Glory Red…

It was from a free kick outside the box that RoRo curled into the corner and sent Sacramento supporters into ecstasy with his third and final goal of the 2014 Western Conference Semifinal showdown against Los Dos. What might be the scariest part for opposing defenses when RoRo hovers over a free kick is his ability to strike the ball with such power and pace. Regardless of how far away from goal he is, he's always a threat. I mean, come on, we’ve seen the guy score from behind the halfway line before!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —Today, Sacramento Republic FC announced the 2020 United Soccer League (USL) Championship regular season schedule, presented by UC Davis Health. The 2020 campaign kicks off on Saturday, March 7 when the Indomitable Club hosts FC Tulsa. 

The eight-month season features 34 regular season matchups — 17 in Sacramento — beginning in early March and concluding on Saturday, October 17 at home against last season’s USL Championship Supporters’ Shield winners, Phoenix Rising FC. The Indomitable Club will be featured during the USL Championship Game of the Week on ESPN Deportes on Wednesday, Sept. 9 when it hosts Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

Notable home matches include a midweek matchup against regional rivals Reno 1868 FC on Wednesday, March 25. followed by a visit from OKC Energy FC just four days later. On Saturday, May 2, Republic FC will host USL rookies San Diego Loyal SC and their head coach, former U.S. Men’s National Team standout Landon Donovan. 

Later that month, the boys in Old Glory Red will get their chance for revenge against El Paso Locomotive FC on May 30, the club that brought SRFC’s 2019 playoff push to an unfortunate end in the Semifinals. Another former USMNT star will see his side visit the California capital on September 19 when Head Coach Eric Wynalda’s Las Vegas Lights FC come to town for a Saturday night showdown. 

The Indomitable Club will host two matches during the California State Fair in July. Archrivals LA Galaxy II come to town on the first Saturday of the State Fair, July 18. April 11, 2015 – The First Home Opener Win
 

After opening the title-defending campaign with a handful of away matches, Republic FC’s first home game was another classic against archrivals LA Galaxy II. In front of nearly 11,000 supporters, the boys in Old Glory Red leapt out to a 3-0 lead before halftime and never looked back.

April 11, 2015 – The First Home Opener Win
 

After opening the title-defending campaign with a handful of away matches, Republic FC’s first home game was another classic against archrivals LA Galaxy II. In front of nearly 11,000 supporters, the boys in Old Glory Red leapt out to a 3-0 lead before halftime and never looked back.

The Indomitable Club cruised to a 3-1 win as Rodrigo Lopez, Emrah Klimenta, and David Estrada each scored one goal and registered one assist on the night. The match against Los Dos was the first game against the Southern Californian club since stunning LA in the Western Conference Semifinals the previous season, a game forever remembered as the Miracle at Bonney.
