Earlier today, the USL Championship nominated Republic FC goalkeeper Danny Vitiello for Week 32 Save of the Week. The fan vote is open now through Thursday, October 15 at 9:00 p.m. PT at USLChampionship.com.
Vitiello denied Colorado Springs Switchbacks the chance to take an early lead with a stellar save in the seventh minute. A cross was just out of reach for a diving Republic FC defender, setting up the Switchbacks’ Frank Daroma for a one-touch shot inside the 18-yard box. Vitiello reacted quickly, coming off his line to cut off the angle and diving left to punch the ball away.
The Indomitable Club went on to earn a 1-1 draw – its 11th consecutive undefeated result – and officially secured its spot in the postseason.
Two games remain in the regular season, starting with next Saturday’s road match against El Paso Locomotive. That match kicks off from Southwest University Park at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on FOX40+ and ESPN+.
Sacramento’s regular season finale is set for October 24 as NorCal rivals Oakland Roots make their way to the Capital City. That match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are available now at SacRepublicFC.com.
