What’s the latest on the team?
Sacramento head into their second game of the season after drawing 1-1 to Real Monarchs SLC at home last weekend. The Utah side went ahead in the 35th minute thanks to a well-taken penalty kick from Jack Blake, a lead they would hold for most of the game. Sacramento fought back, and with less than ten minutes remaining, Republic FC newcomers Sam Werner and Charalampos “Haris” Chantozopoulos combined to score the equalizing goal and rescue a point for the Indomitable Club.
How about the other guys?
Switchbacks FC are returning home to host Republic FC after a trip to SoCal where they rattled four goals past LA Galaxy II in a 4-1 win on the road. Midfielder Shane Malcolm recorded a hat trick in the outing, his three goals ensuring Switchbacks FC are one of only three Western Conference teams starting out the season with three points.

However, it’s a trend that’s beginning to reverse: in their two matchups last season, Republic FC came out on top both times, recording 2-1 (home) and 1-0 (away) wins, respectively.
