The U.S. Soccer Development Academy released the 2016-2017 regular season schedule for their boys’ U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15/16 and U-17/18 age groups. The regular season, which begins September 3, features approximately 30 matches, and will run through June 2017.
Sacramento Republic FC’s U-17/18 and U-15/16 Academy teams will kick off their 2016-2017 at home against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy on Saturday, September 3 at Cosumnes River College. Meanwhile, the U-12 Republic FC teams will start their 2016-2017 campaign on the road at San Francisco Elite Academy. Lastly, the U-13 and U-14s will kick off on Saturday, September 10 against San Juan SC at home at Cosumnes River College.
During the 2016-2017 season, Republic FC Academy’s U-12 teams will compete in the Bay Area division of the Western Conference, which features 13 other clubs located in Northern California, including Placer United, San Juan Soccer Club and the San Jose Earthquakes. Meanwhile the U-13 and U-14 teams will compete in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference, alongside 12 other clubs also located in Northern California.
At the older levels, the U-15/16s and U-17/18s will compete in their respective Northwest Divisions of the Western Conference, which features nine Academy programs including four Major League Soccer Academies: the San Jose Earthquakes, Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Seattle Sounders FC.
Republic FC Academy made an impressive debut in their inaugural season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy during the 2015-2016 season. The U-17/18s advanced to the knockout round of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-17/18 Playoffs, falling to the Academy Championship Runner-ups, Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy.
Meanwhile, he U-15/16s also secured a spot in the 2016 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs, earning a seventh wildcard spot in the Playoffs after going 16-13-3 and finishing fifth in the Northwest division in the regular season. While the U-15/16s did not advance to the knockout stage, they still finished second in their group for Playoffs.
For their part, the U-13/14s finished the regular season with an incredible 19-4-2 record before going on to play in the National Showcase, as the age group does not have a playoff.
