Dear Fans,
Last fall, a small group of our staff traveled to Lake Tahoe for a work retreat. We discussed various aspects of the club’s upcoming 2016 season, ranging from business plans to match dates. What we discussed the most during this retreat, however, was who we are and what we want to continue evolving to be as a club. We asked ourselves “what are our vision, mission and values?” By the time we departed our little place in the woods, our purpose became very clear to us.
Our Purpose: Sacramento Republic FC exists to make the Sacramento region into the most inspiring, energetic and rewarding place to live, work and play.
Our Mission: Through the world’s game, we provide exciting, energetic and inclusive experiences to foster an indomitable movement. We are accountable to our fans, partners, investors and community for they are our family and our inspiration. We celebrate, and elevate, the people, projects and places that provide Sacramento its soul and swagger. We are a Republic and Sacramento is our indomitable home.
The values we aspire to operate by include integrity, trust, passion, purpose, community, accountability, courage and perseverance. I use the word “aspire” because we are still very much a work in progress. Our efforts are ongoing and we will always seek to evaluate our performance and improve, but we realize through your input that we haven’t always lived up to these values to the extent that we would have hoped.
As an example, this season we have had some challenges with meeting all of our commitments. Although the club has advanced considerably from undertakings such as the expansion of the seating capacity at Bonney Field and the launch of our player development Academy, such progress has come at a significant cost and resulted in strains on our club. Our purpose in implementing these undertakings was sound, and they have blossomed wonderfully from the standpoint of growing the club and towards reaching our goal of Major League Soccer. Looking back, we recognize this strain impacted the relationship we have with you and others cherished by the club. We are happy to report that this strain on the company is being relieved.
As a Season Ticket Holder, you may have felt the effect of these challenges this year in the late delivery of your Season Ticket Holder scarf, and the lack of quality in your season ticket book(s). We heard from some of our fans about their displeasure and now realize that we should have been more accountable through greater openness with you about why the scarves were delayed and ticket books not printed.
Season Ticket Holders also shared with us this past season through surveys, focus groups and conversations (both formal and casual) additional ideas and input including that they missed the opportunity to watch a match during the California State Fair. We took this feedback to heart and made some immediate changes, as well as planned for additional changes to commence next season. Hopefully you saw some of these immediate changes at our last home match where we put lights in bathrooms, located picnic tables on the east side, improved concession offerings and made improvements to The Market.
A reflection of the changes that we are instituting for the upcoming season are the following should you choose to renew your seats for the 2017 campaign:
- No increase in prices for your 2017 Season Ticket Holder package; it will remain at 2016 prices. This includes any seats you wish to add to your account and/or relocation of your seats if requested before October 24.
- 20 matches, including 16 USL home matches, one U.S. Open Cup match, two premium domestic friendlies (e.g. MLS or NASL) and one premium international friendlly (e.g. EPL, Liga MX or a national team).
- We will make every attempt to schedule a match during the 2017 California State Fair.
- Through the inspiration of the 2015 David Garibaldi scarf, each year moving forward we will highlight a local artist for our limited edition Season Ticket Holder scarf. These scarves will not be for sale and will only be available to Indomitable Season Ticket Holders – all of them.
- In addition to our annual Meet the Team event, we will host monthly gatherings for our Season Ticket Holders, including dinners at our headquarters, trivia nights and more.
- Two payment options for your tickets, including a pay-in-full or payment plan with no additional administrative fees. You may also select a preferred billing date of the 2nd or 16th day of each month.
- Improved technology for managing your tickets including more online tools and a “Season Ticket Holder Card” which can be used at all home matches and replace the previous “spitter stock”.
- We will hold more events for you to get to know our players and when they eventually leave us, we will do our best to ensure there is an opportunity to express your well wishes and gratitude.
You will continue to have your MLS seating priority, as well as first rights to your seats for USL playoff matches. Hopefully, you appreciate our willingness to learn from you and to make changes to our plans that are more aligned with your desires.
Please mark your calendar now, for our annual Season Ticket Pick Up Party the weekend of March 10-12, 2017. We will have your new account cards ready for pick-up, new merchandise offerings including our a third kit and yes, we will have your scarves here to pick up as well!
The deadline to renew your season ticket package for the 2017 season and retain your seats is October 24. You may renew online through your Account Manager or by calling us at (916) 307-6100.
Lastly, I want to thank you for holding us accountable. Over the next few months, you will likely receive a call from your service representative. I also look forward to speaking with as many of you as possible as we continue to garner your input.
Until then, I look forward to seeing you at Bonney Field to cheer and chant for our boys in Old Glory Red as they lead us into the post season. We are a Republic and Sacramento is our home.
Glory Glory Sacramento!
