Sacramento Republic FC Academy players Shaft Brewer Jr. and Cameron Douglas will play with the U.S. Soccer Men’s U-18 Team this Saturday against their Czech Republic counterparts.
The pair is currently with the U.S. U-18’s for the 2016 Vaclav Jezek Tournament in the Czech Republic. So far, the U.S. U-18’s defeated Slovakia 3-1, with Brewer scoring the match winning goal in the 90th minute. In the team’s second match, the USA faced Hungary, defeating their U-18 counterparts again by a scoreline of 3-1. Brewer started the match.
In their last match, the U.S. U-18’s sealed their pass to the tournament final with another strong performance, this time defeating Russia’s U-18’s by a scoreline of 5-3. Both Brewer and Douglas started in the match.
This is Shaft and Douglas’ third and second call-up, respectively, with the U.S. Men’s U-18 team. Brewer was part of the U-18 Men’s National Team training camp roster that defeated their Club Tijuana counterpart, notching the assist in the match-winning goal during the U-18s 2-1 win in April. In his second call-up with the U-18s, Brewer scored his first goal in a 4-1 win against Universidad de Guadalajara during another training camp in June.
For Douglas, this is his second call-up this season to a U.S. Youth National Team. The Republic FC Academy goalkeeper was also a part of the U.S. U-18s training camp in June in Mexico. Douglas was in goal in the U-18s 4-1 win against Universidad de Guadalajara.
