“Building the beautiful game isn’t limited to our first team, Academy or youth programs, it also extends to the amazing talent seen on the women’s side of the sport,” said Republic FC President and Co-Founder Warren Smith. “It is a great honor to host distinguished players such as Brandi and Sissi, along with the California Storm, at Bonney Field. We hope this is one of many collaborations that provides our fans the opportunity to see world class women’s players in action.”
Brandi Chastain was not the only World Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist to visit Bonney Field this past year. Three-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Cup champion Christie Rampone attended the May 14 match between Republic FC and Seattle Sounders FC 2. Rampone, a veteran defender with NWSL club Sky Blue, held a private clinic for underserved youth and also a free “chalk talk” with fans prior to Republic FC’s match. The clinic and chalk talk were made possible and hosted by Wells Fargo.
