Sacramento Republic FC will travel west to take on San Francisco Deltas (NASL) in their final road preseason match. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Kezar Stadium. The match will be streamed live on Twitter @SFDeltas.
This will be the first math between Republic FC and the Deltas as 2017 is the Deltas first season. The match will also serve as the first match for the Deltas at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. Republic FC previously played a U.S. Open Cup match at Kezar Stadium against the San Jose Earthquakes on June 11, 2014.
Republic FC enter the match following a 3-3 draw with Reno 1868 FC on Mar. 11 at Greater Nevada Field in a preseason friendly. Republic FC scored three early goals, including a goal and an assist from forward Tyler Blackwood.
The goal and assist was the first for Blackwood this preseason. The forward’s assist against Reno was to Trevin Caesar, whose goal was also his first of the preseason. Both Blackwood and Caesar were offseason signings by Republic FC. Both showed a strong scoring pedigree with Blackwood scoring eight goals for Arizona United SC (now Phoenix Rising FC) and Caesar scoring ten goals for Orange County Blues FC (now Orange County SC).
Forward Sammy Ochoa, another offseason acquisition, scored Republic FC’s third goal against Reno. Ochoa now has six preseason goals in five preseason appearances. The forward scored 11 goals and added six assists with Tulsa Roughnecks FC in 2016.
The Deltas enter the match 2-0-2 in the preseason, with wins over the San Jose Earthquakes and East Bay FC Stompers. Their two draws came against Reno 1868 FC and the University of California, Berkeley Men’s Soccer Team.
Head Coach Marc Dos Santos will lead the Deltas in their inaugural campaign. Dos Santos joins the Deltas after leading Swope Park Rangers KC to the USL Cup Championship Match in 2016. Dos Santos coached Ottawa Fury FC (then of the NASL) in 2014 and 2015, taking the Fury to the Soccer Bowl in 2015, a year in which he was named NASL Coach of the Year.
The match will be streamed live on Twitter @SFDeltas. Updates of the match will be also provided via Twitter @SacRepublicFC or using #SFvSAC
