Republic FC congratulates Sacramento artist Lin Fei Fei on winning the fan vote for best design at Paint the Park: A Celebration of Sacramento Art.
Fei's artwork, Fútbol in Action, was one of five finalists selected by a panel of judges consisting of Republic FC, Wide Open Walls, visual artist Maren Conrad, visual artist Raphael Delgado and performance painter David Garibaldi. Fans then voted for their favorite design from the five finalists in an online poll. Fútbol in Action topped the list with 45% of the public vote.
Fei will be honored during halftime of Republic's home match against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday, April 28.
A professional artist from Shenyang, China, Fei moved to Sacramento after completing her Master’s degree in neo-expressionism oil painting. Fei has experience working and painting in over a dozen countries and has participated in exhibitions in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Her art has been collected by art galleries and museum enthusiasts throughout China. In 2016, she was chosen as one of the ten "Contemporary Chinese Artists of the Future" by the Wang Shi Kuo Art Foundation in Beijing, China.
Paint the Park was a collaboration between Republic FC and Wide Open Walls to turn Papa Murphy's Park into an open-air canvas. Over 60 artists were in attendance on April 7 to paint the fence scrim around the stadium in what was an unprecedented showcase of local art in Sacramento sports. The artwork from the event will be on display for fans to enjoy for the remainder of the season.
