Sacramento Republic FC continue their two-match road stand with a trip to Colorado Springs to face Switchbacks FC on Saturday, July 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Weidner Field and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Saturday’s match is the second and final regular season encounter between Sacramento and Colorado Springs. Republic FC holds a 1-3-2 all-time record against their rivals following a 2-1 come-from-behind win back in April that was their first-ever against Switchbacks FC.
Republic FC (9-5-6, 33 points) enter the match in fourth place in the Western Conference after defeating Swope Park Rangers 3-1 on the road. Cameron Iwasa scored a brace, which broke Republic FC’s all-time individual record for most goals scored in USL play (22). His nine goals this season have him tied for first place in the race for the ULS Golden Boot award.
Christian Eissele notched his third goal of the 2018 season on Tuesday night after getting his first start since May 2 when he featured against Portland Timbers 2. Emrah Klimenta recorded his second appearance with Republic FC since rejoining the club and assisted Iwasa on his second goal of the night.
Switchbacks FC (7-9-4, 25 points) currently sit eighth in the Western Conference and come into the match having drawn 1-1 with Oklahoma City Energy on July 7. The club recently announced the signing of defender Kip Colvey on loan from Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids. Colvey played for Republic FC in 2016, making six appearances during his time in Sacramento.
