RENO, Nev. (August 23, 2018) – Sacramento Republic FC will be on the road this week as they take on Reno 1868 FC on Saturday, August 25. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Greater Nevada Field and the match will be broadcast live on KQCA My58, Estrella TV, and ESPN+.
Saturday’s match will be the last of two regular season matches between Sacramento and Reno. In their first meeting back in May, Republic FC fell 2-3 to their rivals in what was their first loss at home this season. The two also met in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup weeks later, where Republic FC came away with a 1-0 victory behind a sublime free kick goal from Keven Alemán.
Republic FC (12-7-7, 43 points) travel to Nevada after a tough 1-4 loss at home to their archrivals LA Galaxy II on Saturday. All four goals from the visitors came before the end of the first half. Republic FC managed to pull back a goal in the 56th minute from an own goal. Villyan Bijev sent a low cross into the box that John Requejo deflected past LA keeper Brian Sylvestre to prevent the shutout. Sacramento currently sit fourth in the USL Western Conference with eight regular season matches remaining.
Reno 1868 FC (10-5-8, 38 points) enter the match after a 3-3 draw on the road to the Swope Park Rangers. Brian Brown scored a brace to take his team-leading tally to 11 goals and earn him a spot in the USL Team of the Week. The draw leaves the San Jose Earthquakes affiliate sitting sixth in the league standings after also losing their last game at home to Saint Louis FC on July 28, 2018. Reno is managed by Head Coach Ian Russell, a former MLS player and assistant coach for the Earthquakes.
