After netting three goals in three consecutive U.S. Soccer Development Academy matches, and once against a club from Mexico’s top tier of professional soccer, forward Nathaniel Carrasco has been named the Republic FC Academy Player of the Month for October.

Carrasco, who currently plays for the Republic FC U-18/19s, kicked off the month with a 65th minute equalizer against De Anza Force on October 5, a match that ended 1-1. The very next game, Carrasco scored in the 71st minute of a 1-1 draw to San Jose Earthquakes. The youngster proceeded to make it three goals from three matches when he netted the lone goal for the boys in Old Glory Red during a 4-1 defeat to Seattle Sounders on October 26.
Not only has Carrasco asserted his offensive dominance over the USSDA competition this season, but the speedy striker even scored against FC Juarez of Mexico’s Liga MX.

Carrasco’s shining moment of the October 9 international friendly against Juarez came in the 58th minute when a shot from distance slammed into the crossbar and the rebound fell directly to Carrasco. The cool, calm and composed striker picked his spot and rifled his shot by the visiting goalkeeper to level the game at three-all.
Juarez went on to win the contest, 4-3, but Carrasco’s goal was the third time during the exhibition match that Sacramento fought back from a goal-down to level the score. Carrasco, much like the entire Republic FC team, demonstrated a tremendous amount of grit and resilience that night. A resiliency that Republic FC fans should be excited about watching for years to come.
