Rarely does a rookie lead his team in goals his first season in the league, but Belmar did. His 12 goals with Portland Timbers 2 was a team-best and also good enough for seventh best in the entire league. The newcomer also was named to the 2015 USL All-League Second Team. The shifty attacker bagged a brace, including the game-winning strike, and dished out two assists en route to earning USL Player of the Week honors for Week 1.

After a two-goal performance following a 2-2 draw against Phoenix Rising FC, Belmar was named to the Week 6 USL Team of the Week and was nominated for USL Goal of the Week as well. But Belmar wasn’t done. By late-April, the goal-getter had found the back of the net seven times and SPR’s parent club, Sporting Kansas City, took notice and eventually called Belmar up for an MLS opportunity after earning the USL Player of the Month award for March.
