Republic FC’s midfielder Mario Penagos and defender Hayden Sargis have officially signed their first professional contracts with the Indomitable Club and will be competing for starting spots with the first team for the 2020 USL Championship season and beyond.
Both players have been members of the Republic FC Academy since the inaugural season in 2015 and now have their sights set on being the foundation of the club for years to come. 1 – The number of times one of the two local standouts received a call-up to the national team. For the 2018 Four Nations Tournament, Penagos received a well-deserved call-up to the U-17 U.S. Men’s National Team.
2 – The number of international friendlies both players started during the summer of 2019. Last July, Penagos and Sargis made their first career starts with the first team during a friendly against Club America’s U-20 team. Republic FC went on to win the match, 2-0, with both young players gaining valuable experience against the club from Mexico’s top division.
