Sacramento, Calif. — The United Soccer League announced today, that the previously announced 30-day temporary suspension of play will be extended through Sunday, May 10 to align with recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on restricting public gatherings.
Republic FC released the following statement regarding today’s league announcement:
“Through this unprecedented time in our community and around the world, we support the league’s decision to extend our season suspension in an abundance of caution for community health. The safety of our fans, guests, players and staff will always be our top priority, and we look forward to returning to competition when it is appropriate to join together again.
“We want to thank our supporters for their patience through this difficult time. Please continue to implement the best practices from health officials to preserve community health and showcase the indomitable spirit of the region by exercising compassion and empathy for those throughout our region.”
