Sacramento, Calif.– Today, Sacramento Republic FC announced that it will begin taking pre-orders for a limited-run scarf raising funds to extend the club’s Indomitable Hands program providing free meals for vulnerable, home-bound seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each delivery includes a mix of fresh heat-and-eat entrees and salads, providing enough food for up to five days.
By purchasing a scarf, supporters will be funding a Raley’s Ready to Eat Meals Bag to be delivered to a senior in the Capital Region. 100% of the net proceeds will be used to immediately support the 42,000 food-insecure seniors in the region. The scarf is now available at the club’s online team store– shop.https://www.sacrepublicfc.com. In addition to the scarf proceeds, Republic FC will also direct 15% of all online sales through April to Raley’s Food for Families in order to purchase more bags to be delivered.

“The indomitable spirit of this community never ceases to amaze me,” said Republic FC President and Chief Operating Officer Ben Gumpert. “During this challenging time, we want to work together to support some of the most vulnerable loved ones, friends, and neighbors among us. We are thankful to have a fanbase who always steps up to support those in need and that is on display now as much as ever.”
In the first 72 hours of the Indomitable Hands launch, fans have nearly matched the club’s initial rollout and donated $10,000 to extend the program, supporting the initial response to help seniors in the community. Several members of the corporate community are working with the club to grow the free delivery program as public health officials extend local stay-at-home orders.

The Indomitable City scarf features the Sacramento skyline and Tower Bridge, with twin hearts emblematic of the compassion that has been shown throughout the community during this challenging time. On the reverse, two club crests frame the “Indomitable City” reminder that our home has faced uncertain times before, but has rallied as a community to prevail. Pre-orders will end April 30 and scarfs be shipped six to eight weeks following production.
After a submission is received, the club’s volunteer corps of front office staff and executives, players, and partner volunteers are contacting nominees, providing a friendly voice as people are being asked to stay home, and coordinate a delivery with proper community health precautions like gloves, masks and contactless drop-offs.
In addition to delivering Essentials Bags, the club’s volunteer corps is supporting local food bank operations and distributing meals for students who rely on school lunches for daily nutrition, as well as stepping in to bridge connecting non-profits and the communities they serve with the resources needed to get through the local shelter in place guidelines.
Through the club’s social channels, players are leading backyard skill workout videos, hosting children’s storytimes for families working from home, and providing a musical moment to lift supporters’ spirits. To support local businesses and employees, the club is highlighting local specials and small businesses. Republic FC Midfielder Rodrigo Lopez is working with NFL star Arik Armstead to encourage supporters to take advantage of takeout and curbside delivery for local eateries.
