
Republic FC’s Juan Barahona, Rafael Diaz and Ashkanov Apollon will represent the Indomitable Club in the USL Championship next esports competition, USL eCup FIFA Edition beginning in May.
Justin Sterk, winner of the club’s SRFCxFIFA20 tournament featuring 32 fans, will join the trio to represent the supporters of the boys in Old Glory Red. All Republic FC matches will be streamed live on the club’s Twitch account, Twitch.tv/SacramentoRepublicFC.
Match play will begin with a weeklong Qualifying Bracket stage beginning on May 4.
Teams will be randomly assigned a premier international squad to compete with throughout the tournament. After the opening qualifying week, three divisions will be formed for weekly promotion / relegation stage play.
For five weeks, a weekly division winner will be named, as clubs will continue to earn points toward a USL eCup Championship title. For a full breakdown of the play guidelines and points, visit the USL eCUP: FIFA20 Edition page.
During matches, fans will have the opportunity to contribute to the club’s Indomitable Hands non-profit partner Raley’s Food For Families. 100% of all donations will be used to donate additional meals to vulnerable, home-bound seniors. Throughout April, the club has raised over $55,000 and delivered over 6,000 meals. The club is still accepting nominations and donations the Indomitable Hands page.
