Sacramento, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC announced today that Midfielder Fatai Alashe (pronounced: fuh-TIE uh-LAH-shay) will join the Indomitable Club, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, the terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The 27-year-old midfielder joins Republic FC after a championship season with Columbus Crew SC where he appeared 8 times (6 starts), netting one goal. Alashe was drafted 4th overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes. In four seasons in San Jose, he appeared 85 times, starting in over 80% of the club’s matches. In his third MLS match, he scored his first career goal – the first in the history of San Jose’s venue. In 2017, he joined Reno 1868 FC on loan for his first USL Championship assignment. In 2018, he joined FC Cincinnati on loan for another USL Championship stint, before signing with the club for its debut Major League Soccer season in 2019.During his time in Cincinnati, the midfielder made 14 regular-season appearances (four starts) while scoring one goal.
Fatai played for Michigan State from 2011-2014, registering 85 appearances (69 starts) while tallying 14 goals and 15 assists for the Spartans. In his four seasons with Michigan State, he earned several playing honors including 2011 Big Ten All-Freshman Team, 2013 Big Ten All-Tournament Team and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, 2014 NSCAA All-American Second Team and All-Midwest Region Team.
Alashe represented the U.S. Men’s National Team at the Under-23 level, recording 10 appearances and scoring two goals.
