As the days roll by, more and more future soccer stars are signing up for the limited spaces during the Indomitable Club’s Camps and Clinics this season.
Throughout the region, there are seven different locations for the developmental camps for ages 6-16 over 10 weeks. Spots are filling up fast and additional information can be found on the club’s Camps and Clinics homepage.
As Republic FC’s Summer Camps and Clinics inch closer, the Indomitable Club is showcasing each of its brilliant youth coaches who care deeply for the future of the sport in Sacramento and this week it’s Youth Coach Ben Kamm who takes a deep dive into his love for the beautiful game.
Ben was born in Sacramento, but grew up mainly in Cincinnati, Ohio. He started playing soccer when he was five, but he still can’t stay far from the pitch and enjoys competing in Sunday recreational co-ed leagues.
But long before he was earning money as a coach, he was doing it out of love.

But long before he was earning money as a coach, he was doing it out of love.
“I like to think I’ve been coaching for most of my life, and the first athlete I worked with was my sister,” Ben explained. “She didn’t make her middle school team and was pretty upset about it, but we came up with a plan, trained hard for a year, and she eventually made the team the following season. I look back at this as proof that I’m pursuing my life’s calling.”

That selfless gesture was the foundation of pursuing a passion for coaching, and he hasn’t stopped since.
“I’ve officially been coaching soccer for over five years,” Coach Kamm said. “I began coaching for an after-school program I used to work for, and immediately knew it was something I wanted to pursue as a career.”
Even though he’s been a coach for a handful of seasons now, Ben knows he’s much more than that in these kids lives.
“I consider myself to be a teacher,” Ben said. “And I’m very fortunate to have the platform to be able to teach my favorite subject, soccer, and to help grow the sport I love in our region.”
Ben continues to use that platform encouraging young players to purse the game they love, as he similarly fell in love with the beautiful game at an early age as well. He picked up the sport at the age of five and played through his high school years.

But of all the soccer memories he’s racked up over the years, the one involving the Indomitable Club may have been his personal favorite.
“Receiving the call that I was hired by the Republic is one of my favorite memories,” Coach Kamm admitted. “To be able to wear and represent the badge in the community is something I take immense pride in.”

Republic FC will always have a special place in Ben’s heart. Long before he was coaching for SRFC, he was supporting the club from the stands. He fondly remembers one of the club’s most famous goals – a lightning strike from behind the halfway line in 2015.
As a Manchester United supporter, Ben’s witnessed Wayne Rooney dominate defenders and curl remarkable efforts into the top corner.
But memories aside, coaching the sport he loves brings more fulfillment than anything else the global game can provide.
“I find coaching so fulfilling because it gives me the opportunity to pass on my love and knowledge of the beautiful game to future generations of players and fans,” Ben said. “I believe that if you love something, whether it be soccer, or basketball, cooking, art, music… etc., you have the obligation to teach it to and pass it onto the next generation. I have been fortunate to have many people in my life who have helped nurture my love of soccer, so my aim is to pay it forward.”
