Over the course of the 2021 USL Championship season, the Indomitable Club will continue to celebrate the unique and diverse arts community in and around the greater Sacramento region and in conjunction with Arden Fair, the organizations are primed to present the second edition of this year’s Artist Spotlight series this Saturday night.
On the heels of Nooligan’s Opening Night poster, the Artist Spotlight series rolls along with another talented local artist who created the matchday poster for this Saturday’s game – Kris Rosa.
The Davis, CA based specialized in colorful portraiture in a verity of mediums, according to Rosa’s website which can be found by visiting RosaOriginals.com. Rosa has done personal and collective art shows all over America, including San Francisco’s “Murray affair”, Omaha’s “Respect”, and a variety of personal shows at Hot Shops, House of Loom and Howlin Hounds (Omaha, NE), My Studio and Shine (Sacramento, CA) and Delta of Venus (Davis, CA).

His colorful creation for Saturday night’s regular season fixture against Phoenix Rising FC at Heart Health Park will be debuted for the first time – as will the club donning its brand-new Quail Kit for the first time in 2021.

The poster is a vibrant quail perched on the back of an iconic California brown bear. The limited-edition matchday poster will be available exclusively for fans attending Saturday’s match with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. PT. His original canvas for the Team Store was turned into a poster and his art is currently on display the Republic FC Headquarters.

Not only did Rosa design the poster, but he designed the artwork on a special pair of cleats that will be worn by Republic FC’s Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu. Rosa confirmed it was no easy feat to pull off an artistic project like that.
“Oh yeah, it’s pretty tough, man,” Rosa said. “The textures a little bit different and then they’re a little rounded so it’s just adapting to size. It’s definitely interesting [making them for] the first time.”
As for the poster itself, it was a design approach he had to tweak along the way to pull off the one-of-a-kind Indomitable Club-themed artwork that will be available for fans this Saturday night.
“I was going to roll with just some portraits and see where that would go, like quail on one side, beat on the other, and maybe the logo, the star or the state of California in the middle but ended up being something completely different,” Rosa explained. “I like the way it turned out. It’s a lot of colors. I probably did around seven [different iterations].”
