The Toros were unable to keep up with Phoenix’s offensive attack, which netted three scores before the 30 minute mark.
Back East, Tampa Bay continued their recent skid, falling to Charlotte Independence 2-0 and dropping out of first place in the Atlantic Division. Pittsburgh Riverhounds, who defeated Hartford Athletic 3-1 for their third straight victory, take over the top spot in the division.

Canada pulled off a stunning upset of the United States’ Women to move on to Thursday’s final, where they will take on Sweden for Olympic Gold. The U.S. will play Australiafor Bronze on Thursday at 1:00 a.m. PT.

Their lone score of the night came off the foot of winger Cristian Espinosa, who found the net from just outside the penalty box in the final seconds of the first half. San Jose would nearly double their advantage in the game’s final minutes, but a Chris Wondolowski score in the 90th would be overturned by VAR.
