After Republic FC controlled the opening half, a 64th minute goal off the head of Oakland defender Emrah Klimenta broke the tie to secure a win for the hosts.
Oakland would open the scoring in the 10th minute. A clearance from Wal Fall out of the back found Quincy Amarikwa in the attacking third, and the striker found the goal the first score of the night. It was also first score in the fixture since the two clubs first meeting in June of this year– a drought spanning 212 minutes on the field.
The 10th minute score from Roots SC was all they would manufacture in the first half. Sacramento’s defensive unit was excellent, keeping their Bay Area foes without a shot or chance created until stoppage time. Mark Briggs’ men outshot their opponents 7-1 through 45 minutes.
On the opposite end, Jaime Villarreal would find Darek Formella in the 31st minute to pull Sacramento even. After taking a negative pass from Cameron Iwasa, the midfielder threaded the ball through the middle to Formella who put it in for his fifth score of the season.

After a few excellent defensive stops from Dan Casey and Hayden Sargis to open the second half would stop Oakland in their tracks, the hosts would eventually pull ahead in the 64th minute. Emrah Klimenta would head one in off a cross from Matias Fissore, putting the hosts up 2-1.
While Sacramento would threaten as time continued to tick, the Indomitable Club was unable to pull even before the final whistle sounded. Mark Briggs’ men put just four of its 12 shots on target for the contest, with its best chance to pull even coming in the 82nd minute when Dan Casey put a head on a Pete Pennanen free kick in the 82nd minute.
Sacramento will be back in action this Saturday from San Diego when they head south for a matchup with Loyal SC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM from Torero Stadium, and the match will be broadcast live on KQCA My58, Estrella TV Sacramento, and ESPN+
