Sacramento, Calif. – League honors for Republic FC continue to roll in. Friday, USL Championship announced that Republic FC goalkeeper Danny Vitiello has been nominated for USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Month for August. Fans can help vote Vitiello’s 70th minute denial against Oakland Roots on August 27 as the league’s top save for the month online at USLChampionship.com through Monday, September 12 at 9:00 a.m. PT.
Vitiello’s save kept a clean sheet intact for Republic FC against their NorCal rivals, who were pushing to equalize as time ticked down. Oakland sent the ball along to forward Dariusz Formella, who put a well-paced shot on target from just inside the penalty area. Sacramento’s keeper leapt and got a hand on the ball to send it over the bar; the save was voted as the Save of the Week for Week 25 after a fan vote.
Vitiello and Republic FC return home to Heart Health Park this Saturday, September 10 against Loudoun United FC. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and the match will be broadcast live on Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com and the FOX40 News mobile app, and streaming on ESPN+. Tickets to the match are available at SacRepublicFC.com/single-match-tickets.
Voting for the league’s Save of the Month is open now at USLChampionship.com through Monday, September 12 at 9:00 a.m. PT.
