Earlier today, the USL Championship announced that Jack Gurr’s 56th minute score against Loudoun United FC on September 10 has been nominated for Fan’s Choice Goal of the Week for Week 27. Voting is open now at USLChampionship.com through Thursday, September 15 at 9:00 a.m. PT.
The defender’s score doubled the club’s advantage just before the hour mark. Following a recovery on the left in traffic, Sacramento immediately sent the ball the other way to open up space. Gurr received a pass on the right wing with just one man to beat, carrying inside before winding up to let loose a left-footed shot from distance. His attempt rocketed over the line just inside the right post for his long-awaited first goal in Old Glory Red.
This is the defender’s first career nomination for the weekly vote and the third time a Republic FC player has been nominated in 2022. Damia Viader was nominated in Week 14 honor and Luis Felipe in Week 18 earlier this season. Gurr’s nomination also marks the fourth straight week a Republic FC player has earned or been nominated for a weekly league honor.
Voting for the award is open now at USL Championship.com, and is open now until 9:00 a.m. PT on Thursday, September 15.
