Sacramento Republic FC announced today that the club has reached an agreement with USL Championship side Indy Eleven for Douglas Martinez Jr., sending the forward’s rights and an international roster slot to the Eastern Conference club. Republic FC will receive an undisclosed fee for the transfer.
“This was not an easy decision, but ultimately we agreed to a move that will benefit all parties. We wish Douglas the very best with his new club and are thankful for his contributions to Republic FC.”
Martinez departs after spending a season with Republic FC. The forward first signed with Sacramento ahead of the 2022 season. In his only campaign with Republic FC, the Honduran forward appeared 37 times, with 26 starts. Across all competitions, Douglas scored six goals and collected four assists.
On Saturday, Republic FC will kick off its 2023 home campaign when the squad welcomes Charleston Battery to Heart Health Park. In addition to all the exciting action on the field, the night will feature fun giveaways, food and drink specials, and fireworks to celebrate the club’s 10th season. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and tickets are available now at SacRepublicFC.com/Tickets. The match will also be broadcast in English and Spanish on FOX40, as well as streaming on FOX40.com, through the FOX40 News mobile app, and on ESPN+.
