- Selection marks each player’s first national team call up since July 2021
- Each joined their respective squads following Republic FC’s home opener against Charleston Battery
Sacramento, Calif. – Earlier this week, two Republic FC players were selected to their respective national team rosters for upcoming 2022/23 Concacaf Nations League matches, set to begin this week. Zeiko Lewis has been selected to Bermuda’s roster, and Luther Archimède (Arsh-eh-mehd) has been selected by Guadeloupe (Gwahd-ehh-loop) for matches from Thursday, March 23 to Tuesday, March 28. Each have joined their squads and will return to Republic FC’s roster after the international window.
Lewis joins Bermuda’s senior squad for the first time since qualification for the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. The Spanish Point-born forward ranks as one of Bermuda’s most decorated senior players all-time since his debut in 2011, appearing 34 times and scoring 12 goals – both fourth on the nation’s all-time leaderboard. Bermuda will take the pitch twice in the upcoming international window, first on Saturday, March 25 vs. Guyana in Devonshire, Bermuda, and again on Tuesday, March 28 vs. Haiti in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. Lewis and Bermuda enter the 2023 competition placed in League B, Group B alongside Haiti, Guyana, and Monserrat.
Archimède joins the Guadeloupe National Team for the first time since the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, where he logged 19 minutes across two contests against Jamaica and Costa Rica. He earned his first international cap in 2019 and has since appeared in four international contests including international friendlies, and qualification for the 2019/20 Nations League. Guadeloupe has been placed in League B, Group A alongside Cuba, Antigua & Barbuda, and Barbados and will take on Antigua and Barbuda on Thursday, March 23 and Cuba on Sunday, March 26.
Both Lewis and Archimède joined Republic FC in 2022. After three seasons with Eastern Conference side Charleston Battery, Lewis logged 30 appearances for Sacramento across all competitions, scoring two goals and tallying one assist. Archimède came to Republic FC after featuring for New York Red Bulls II in 2021, scoring 5 goals and assisting 3 times in a team-high 39 appearances. Each player appeared in Republic FC’s Week 1 victory over El Paso Locomotive FC on March 11 and the club’s 1-1 draw against Charleston Battery on March 18.
Republic FC is back in action this Saturday, March 25 when San Diego Loyal SC visits Heart Health Park. Kickoff for the contest is set for 7:00 p.m., and the match will be broadcast live on Antenna TV 40.2, FOX40.com and the FOX40 App, and streaming on ESPN+.
